Dear parents,

The time has come. Your precious baby is now a high graduate and is about to experience the real world. You may be as nervous for them as they are for themselves. It's very important during this new transition from high school to college to allow your child to fly and figure things out for themselves. Some parents might be like my mother and want to hold your child's hand throughout life. Allow your children to make mistakes because they are going to make mistakes regardless. However, what you should be proud of as a parent is the fact that you've raised a great, responsible, young adult. Monitor how your child solves problems and how the react in times of crisis. This will help them build character. Remind your child that you will always be there to love and support them. But most importantly always remember your child wants to make you proud.

Sincerely,

The college graduate of two proud parents
