I graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in May of 2015 with my bachelor of arts degree in general business management. Graduating from college was one of the proudest moments in my life. And now five years later, it's my younger sister's turn. She will be graduating December 2020 with her bachelor of arts degree in general business management from Southeastern Louisiana University as well. However, our journey to university success was not an easy task nor was it the same. I was more of the go to class and study in dorm type student, while my sister was the social butterfly. With out combined nine years of university experience, my sister and I have a few tips and tricks on how to survive college life. Below are my list of tips and my sister's tips can be found on her website in the link below.
Danyell's Surviving College 101 Tips:
1. 8 a.m. classes are not the same as 8 a.m. classes in high school. 8 a.m. in college really feels like 5 a.m.
2. When scheduling all of your college classes use https://www.ratemyprofessors.com/
3. When walking alone at night, always walk with someone you know, have someone on the phone, or video chat.
4. Figure out a study system that works for you and you will succeed.
5. Always communicate with your professors. They are there to help you.
6. Don't schedule classes after 3 p.m. it will feel like 10 pm.m at night once you get out.
7. The some of the friends you make in college will become closer with you than of your friends in high school.
8. Yes the memes you see on social media about university/ college life are true!
9. Have fun because the years you spend in college are actually better than the four years of high school.
10. Always remember to never quit and talk and express your feelings of stress and fear. You are not alone.
