In order to connect with your students, you must first engage with them. During homecoming week at the local high school where I teach, the students were allowed to dress up as their favorite 1990s character. My students didn't believe that I would actually show up to school dressed as Kandi Burruss from the famous 90s girl group Xscape. The following Thursday, I put on my 1990s throwback clothes, DJ 1990s music, and we connected in a great and positive way. #NeverKillAKidsDream
